About Our Cause

Every president since John F. Kennedy has tried to fix our schools with some program to improve the quality of the education our children receive.

We have a simple proposal for doing what they couldn’t: Put every parent in America in charge of the public money used to educate their children so they can choose where their kids go to school.

Congress and the President can do that right now by passing and signing a law requiring every state and school district that accepts federal educational funds (that’s all of them) to provide Educational Freedom Accounts for every K-12 student in their state or district. The accounts would equal 95% of the average money spent per pupil in that state or district.

This law will give every parent in America the opportunity to send their children to schools offering a quality education. It will also force underperforming schools to improve or die.

On average, this would put more than $11,000 per student into Education Freedom Accounts that parents could use to send their children to any state-approved school they choose.

Our proposal doesn’t change the amount of money spent on education. It just puts parents in charge of how the money is spent.

The concept isn’t new. Congress regularly passes laws putting restrictions on federal funds as an incentive for state and local governments to adopt certain policies. That’s why we have a national drinking age of 21 and uniform interstate-highway speed limits, for example.

Who We Are

End the Education Plantation is a temporary nonprofit organization founded by John Conlin of Littleton, Colorado, because he’s seen first-hand the harm being caused by our nation’s schools. We are a grassroots organization with one and only one goal: Give every parent in America the opportunity to send their children to schools offering a quality education.
